KENNINGTON HOUSE

KENNINGTON, LONDON

  • Our Kennington project transforms a tired and cramped house into a beautiful, functional home with small, carefully crafted extensions, reworked layouts and a full re-landscaped garden.

One of the key areas of focus was to make the lower ground floor kitchen and dining spaces feel lighter, brighter and more connected to the garden without the costly structural work required to lower the floor level. We achieved this with minor structural opening up of existing internal walls and a small one meter deep bespoke glazed, oak extension which pulls light and views of the densely greened garden beyond into the kitchen and dining space.

The garden design was heavily influenced by the large existing cherry tree in the centre of the garden. This dictated the size of the lower ground courtyard which is tiered to soften the level change up to the main garden area. At the back of the garden is a quiet, enclosed dining area accessed via stepping stones through the dense greenery.

Working alongside interior designer Lizzie Green, the whole house is reworked and restyled to create a beautiful mix of contemporary architectural detail and bold interiors.
